What’s in my doula bag?

I keep all kinds of items in my doula bag to help with supporting clients (and myself!) during their birthing time!  My goal is to have anything a client might need during labor that they may have accidentally forgotten while packing up their hospital bag! I will break it down into different categories.

Written material:

  • Evidence Based Birth comfort measures pocket guide

  • Evidenced Based Birth induction methods pocket guide

  • “The Birth Partner” book

  • My trusty Spinning Babies powerpoint from the training I attended

  • Epidural positions tips and tricks handouts

Food and related items:

  • Premade protein shakes

  • Trail mix

  • Protein bars

  • Silicone Straw

  • Suckers

  • Mints

  • Hard ginger candy

  • Gum

  • Other various fresh food I may throw in my bag for me to eat during the birth

Comfort measure items:

  • Battery operated fan

  • Comb

  • Massage roller ball

  • Lacrosse balls

  • Rice heat/cold bag

  • Rose quartz roller

  • Rebozo

Hygiene products:

  • Lotion

  • Lip balm

  • Deodorant

  • Hair scrunchy

  • Bobby pins

  • Glasses cleaner

  • Toothpaste and toothbrush

Other miscellaneous items:

  • Twinkle lights

  • Battery operated lights

  • Phone charger

  • Earbuds

  • Button up shirt

  • Shorts

  • Breast pump and accessories

  • Cooler

  • Business Cards

  • Thank you card

  • Mini pelvis

So far in my doula journey, I have found this to be a good amount of support tools and care items for me and my client. I carry it all in one big rolling soft travel bag!
